Meditation In Preschool

What did you think of that title?  Did you imagine a bunch of 4 year old's sitting in criss cross legs, hand positions and humming a mantra?  Haha!  Not in this classroom.  Although I do yoga often through out the year.  Maybe one day I'll get around to a post about that.  Here is a great "meditation" exercise to practice in the classroom or even in your home.

Make a balance beam with a long board, tape or using some type of straight line for them to follow.  Give your child a bell.  While they walk on the balance beam they hold their bell WITHOUT making it ring.  It is a fun challenge for them, but what they don't realize is how much concentration they are using.  Focusing on the line, focusing on the bell and trying not to become distracted by other noise around them or what the others are doing.

Try it out!
