Getting Messy....

In being true to myself I let loose this week and we got down right dirty!  I think I cleaned more paint brushes, tables, hands and floors than I would in a normal week.  Phew! Glad it's a 3 day weekend for me!!

This first one is a Chihuly inspired art project.  I first saw it here and have been wanting to do it ever since.  I gathered what I had (which was a bit different than hers, but I think it worked just fine!) and we went for it!

Materials needed:
Coffee filters
Molding form (bowl, yogurt cups, glass, etc)
Glue/Water mixture or a spray decoupage
Watercolors

This is the recipe I use to make my watercolors!

Paint the coffee filters!

Allow them to dry over a molding form of your choice.  Spray or slather on your glue/decoupage

Ta-da!  I took a large canvas to adhere all of our designs to.  This stands about 3 feet high.

Another project was our famous Larger than Life Pendulum Painting!  Click here to see when we first used it in our classroom.  This years paintings turned out differently because I didn't remember how we made it work the best, but non the less the kids had a BLAST making these and we all found them beautiful!

If you missed Snap Painting check it out!

Have a great weekend!  Coming up in the next month: Apples, Birds, Construction and Dinosaurs!

  1. Love it! Can't wait to try the Chihuly inspired bowls. We often use coffee filters and paint, so this seems like a natural progression of the art. Thanks for inspiring and sharing! :)
