Sorting Game

Sorting is such a great activity to teach little's.  It teaches them to distinguish between different things. Anytime you need your child or class to be busy for a few minutes (and sometimes longer) have a sorting game readily available!  I have tons of them through out the classroom.  I even have some for my 16 month old son at home!

Here is one using poker chips.  I used formula cans for the "coin deposit".  Cut holes in the lids for littler fingers or make small slits for more of a challenge.  I then made large circles of each poker chip color to put on the front.

Clink, Clink, Clink!  They really like the noise the coins made!  (It almost sounds like a casino in there!)  :)

  1. My co-teacher and I made the slits small to work on fine motor skills with our toddlers and preschoolers! They've been using them for 2 years now!

I'd love to hear what your thoughts are...leave a comment! :)
