If you follow Teacher Tom you probably have seen his volcano.  If you haven't, I highly suggest you start following! We made our volcano rendition beginning on Monday of last week and ending on Thursday of this week.
How we began: Using a 2 liter soda bottle, a large piece of cardboard and a whole lot of masking tape we shaped our volcano.  Then we began the process of paper maiche.  I really thought they would get into it.  I'm surprised I got kids actually doing this part.  I think most of them did one strip of paper and got totally grossed out!  What??!!! I had a great time finishing it. :)  After two or three layers and after it "baked" in the sun we painted on two or three...or more layers of colorful paint.

When the "eruption day" finally made its way (I made sure I hyped it up a lot!) boy were there some squeals!  I used a mixture of baking soda, vinegar and dish soap.  It was fun, messy and a whole lotta work!
