B is for BUGS!

I think just about any child you meet will tell you they like bugs. Especially the "safe" kind.  We are doing a 2 week unit on all types of bugs.  Mostly the well known type.  Today we started off with butterflies.

We made Butterflies out of the letter B (do you see it?).  Two B's sandwiching some tissue paper.  Every time we are learning a new letter we make something from it and hang it from the ceiling.  (I understand this is a terrible picture, but let's just ignore that little fact.)
Snack Time: Ants on a log!  Not about butterflies, but they thought it was funny when I said we were going to eat bugs for snack!  I liked having them smear their p.b. and add their own ants raisins. :)

Butterfly Life Cycle: Bean (egg), Fussili (caterpillar), Shell (cocoon)and Farfalle (butterfly)

We played some fun games acting out the life cycle, being butterflies looking for flowers and of course we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
Next up?  Bumblebees!
