Wednesday's Wisdom: On Age..

Oh, the random-ness of a 5 year old.

Student R turned to me and said, "I'll be 47 like my daddy one day.  First I am 5, then I'll be 6 next and then 47, I think."

I asked Student Z how old his daddy was (I'm not sure why...) and he promptly told me, "He's 48 inches.".

While reading The Cat in the Hat, we talked about how the children are home by themselves. I asked the children if their mommy would let them stay home by themselves.  Student L said, with eyes wide, "My mom said I can't be alone until I'm 100!".

Hee, Hee...this is why I teach preschool. :)

  1. Age is a tricky thing for 5s. When my group asks my age, I often ask them, "How old do you think I am?" (I know--dangerous.) My favorite exchange--
    Ch 1: "18?"
    Me: "No, more than 18."
    Ch 2: "80?"
    (Surely there's a middle ground!)

  2. I know, right!? I ask the same question when they ask my age. I always love the response, "Wow, that's old." when I give them my real age. My mom always told me, "You're only as old as you feel!".

I'd love to hear what your thoughts are...leave a comment! :)
