A Day at the Funny Farm

The farm unit is always fun.  Silly songs, games and lots of craft options. Over the summer we did a fun farm theme you can check out here. I decided to just give you two that we did this time.

Have you ever wrote up your lesson plans and totally forgot what you meant by a certain activity or project?  Today, my lesson plan says "Stick Horse".  Huh?  I have no notes on this project, so I look thru the cabinets and this is what I came up with:  Tongue Depressors, markers and yarn/string.  I hot glued the pieces together and the children did the rest.  I had an extra one, so the picture is my handy work. :)

"Stick Horse"
Paint blot cow: Fold paper in half, drip paint on one side, fold over and squish.  After it has dried, use a half template of a cow and trace on the line.  Cut out.  (We attached a paperclip to keep the paper closed while the kids cut.  Add details.

Details: button eyes, raffia (he's eating hay), other options: felt/fur for hair on top of head, horns, cowbell, horns, etc.

Well, who knows how long I'll be blogging for....my baby is "due" in about 2.5 weeks...so as long as I'm at school I'll attempt pictures and blogs!

  1. You are absolutely brilliant. There's no way I could rifle through a cabinet and come up with a horse like that! Your little guy is gonna be the luckiest kid around!
