Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

We are celebrating our Independence this week in preschool camp and I am delighted at how excited they are. Here are a few activities and crafts that we have begun this week:

Fireworks!  Cut cotton swabs in two, dip in a mixture of paint, glue & glitter.  Dip the cotton end in the paint and place on paper. Not very messy, but fun!

R-W-B Paper Chains: Children made their chains, then we connected them all together and hung them up in the room for some Independence cheer!

Bubblewrap + Children = Lots of loud popping fireworks!  Not to mention all the laughter!  We twisted them, stomped on them and some even tried to bite them (yes, I stopped that action). :)

T-shirt Stamping: Children brought a R-W or B t-shirt to school, we sponge painted sparkly stars on them.  (I used regular acrylic craft paint and added glitter to it)

Our snack today was yummy and healthy: R-W-B Parfaits!  Strawberries, Blueberries and Vanilla Yogurt with a sprinkling of granola.

The next two days will consist of making necklaces, sparklers (sparkly pipe cleaners inserted into a straw), simple headbands made from bulletin border, musical parades and more!

There is another activity that we found in the Family Fun mag that we hope to squeeze into our day.

Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July!!
