Say Cheese!

Last week we talked about healthy teeth.  Healthy foods, ways to care for your teeth, what the dentist does for you, and SUGAR BUGS!!  I think I scared them a wee bit when I told them that the sugar bugs eat their teeth.  :)

We made these fun "Cheery Chompers" and a smiley snack.

Materials needed: Paper plate (folded wrong way out), styrofoam pieces, crayon and gooey glue.
 2. Draw a tongue inside and then glue styrofoam pieces (teeth) along the top and bottom of the paper plate. I forgot to take a picture of the finished product, but if you imagine your hand on the back side of the plate you can "chomp" like a puppet mouth.

My favorite snack (thanks to my lovely t.a.) that we have had:  Red apple slices, peanut butter and teeth, I mean mini marshmallows!!

  1. These would be great for teaching my students about mouth structures in my speech/language program!

  2. LOL, your post make me and all of my students are smiling. Apples and marshmallows, what a good combinations. Thanks for sharing :)

  3. Teeth are so important! It's never too early to start education out little ones about them- and out families! I still don't think a unit is enough.
    Great post!

  4. Love these! We did both of these for dental health. The kids loved them! We had to use pink tinted icing for the apple smiles this year due to allergies.

  5. That is a good point about the allergies! Soy butter tastes and looks just like peanut butter but without all the sugar. Good Point. Quick thinking with the tinted icing!

I'd love to hear what your thoughts are...leave a comment! :)
