Handprint Hugging Koalas

When making hand print crafts, I usually paint the child's hand...but today I decided that they could do it themselves. It was messier for sure, but I'm glad I "let go" and had them paint their own hand. Here is the steps we took to make our Koala's:

1. Paint hand with color of choice. We made gray.

2. Push hand on your paper of choice.

3. Using just your palm, press on the thumb of your handprint. This becomes the head. The remaining 4 fingers are now the limbs. Next, add large thumbprint nose and finger print eyes.

4. I glued a clothespin on the back. Then I took some brown paper and twisted it, hung it from the ceiling and clipped our hugging koala's to the 'gum tree'.

  1. Cute and I love the twisted paper too :)

  2. These are really cute. My kids love anything with handprints! By the way, I tried your puffy paint (glue, shaving cream, and paint) and we LOVED it!!! So fun. Love the way it dried.

  3. I'm glad you liked it, Kat! And-glad it worked for you. :)

  4. Love these! I do them every year with "Koala Lou, I Love You". I've always put each one individually on a green string hung from the ceiling. I'm definitely going to try your vines this year! Thanks for the great ideas! :)

  5. Absolutely love this art project! Thank you for sharing your ideas
